Niamh Rasmussen. ADHD UK Ambassador
Hi, I’m Niamh Rasmussen. My drive to become an ADHD UK Ambassador stems from my passion for promoting understanding, inclusion, and equality for those with ADHD, especially for women and individuals with the inattentive subtype who often remain undiagnosed and misunderstood. Diagnosed with ADHD myself, I have gained a profound appreciation for the complexities and challenges associated with this condition, as well as its wonderful and unique qualities.
As a student with ADHD, I have encountered first hand the numerous obstacles that neurodivergent individuals face within the education system. The struggle to adapt to traditional learning environments, coupled with the pervasive lack of understanding about ADHD, has been a significant part of my journey. These experiences have underscored the urgent need to address and dismantle the stigmas associated with ADHD.
My personal journey has given me unique insights into the cultural and systemic barriers that many face. Moreover, my experiences have highlighted the need for better recognition of comorbid disorders and mental health issues that frequently accompany ADHD. Overall, I am passionate about communicating the remarkable elements of ADHD while advocating for systemic progress.
