Ffion Colwill. ADHD UK Ambassador

Hi, I’m Ffion, I’m 18, from Swansea, and I’m incredibly proud to be an Ambassador for ADHD UK.

Growing up, I always knew I experienced the world differently — I was full of energy, ideas, and emotions that never seemed to fit the boxes others expected me to stay in. But I spent years not understanding why school felt so overwhelming, why friendships were difficult, and why I often felt like I was “too much.” It wasn’t until I was 16 that I was finally diagnosed with severe ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). That moment changed everything. It helped me make sense of my struggles and finally start embracing my strengths.

Before my diagnosis, I was a competitive rhythmic gymnast, training for years until a serious knee injury brought my athletic career to a stop. That loss was hard — but it also helped me discover a new passion: advocacy. I now use my story to raise awareness, especially for girls with ADHD, who are so often missed, misjudged, or misunderstood.

I created HyperHer, a platform that aims to empower girls and young women with ADHD by helping them see the power in their uniqueness. Through social media, events, and projects, I want to open up honest conversations and remind young people they are not alone.

I’m becoming an ADHD UK Ambassador because I believe in using my voice to create change. ADHD UK is doing life-changing work — helping people get diagnosed, feel supported, and speak up. I’m excited to be part of something that’s bigger than me, and I hope to help other young people see that having ADHD isn’t something to be ashamed of — it’s something to be proud of.
