| Also just a comment that the talk about young offenders in prison puting the blame squarely on families and mothers in particular without considering the wider picture of the violence that is done to families in the UK by this government ( I find it difficult to write this as I have refused to acknowledge them since the 2015 election), the austerity years which are ongoing, the slashing of budgets to public services, decimation of health services, eduction, the struggle for safe affordable housing, the introduction of Universal credit,( I would say our welfare state is really just state sanctioned abuse), how our institutions purposefully put lives at risk eg Police, the list is really endless. All of these things combined have been so devastating for some families. I simply don't think its good enough or to say "Well I was so lucky because my mother was......... | Can we talk about Sleep Procrastination? I don't suffer from insomnia as I am chronically sleep deprived with only 4 hours on average. Its like I am punishing myself at night with not being productive enough during the day! trying to frantically catch up with day, completing tasks, tie up loose ends because I have been so unproductive during daytime! Its appalling way to live😣! NUTRITION I eat balanced diet for my meals but I snack at night from 12 midnight till 5am whilst I work on computer as I am so tired, distracted and writing difficult emails-I can only get through if I am eating! The actual chewing movement stimulates my brain and sugar feeds the reward centres! So as result, my gut microbiome and circadian cycle is completely messed up which further messes up the hormones and neurotransmitters ie dopamine that we don't have enough of anyway !! |

| Can you please provide a few ideas or pointers as to what other conditions someone might have if they do not have ADHD but are displaying the symptoms. May be it could be down to trauma, or prolonged crirital care stay impacting Executive Function? I'm at a loss, as the psychiatrist wont assess me simply due to childhood incidents (which she says means i could have been anxious, dissociating etc due to it). However, I identify quite strongly with most/all traits for adult women with ADHD who have done well academically (but at huge cost to my emotional state and energy levels). | Hi, great knowing I'm not alone through the meds shortage in the UK. I am currently 8 way through titration with psychiatry-UK for ADHD, and the meds I was on are affected by the shortages. Is this a reason to extend the standard titration period or start another titration period when the meds become available again? | I disagree the problem is more complex . Lack of family support/ role models , alienation. Mental health problems, latr diagnosed neurodiverse conditions, not having support to reach their potential . Eg, not having support for late diagnoses of dyspraxia and Aspergers traits , need the diagnosis of ADHD, nervous breakdown to get there , What happens if a person graduate fron university without any support, The benefit system, support from the job centre ( including the disability employment advisor), social services, NHS, mainstream charities, does not support late diagnosed neurodiverse adults. |

| This is for Daley and Sarah, what about the child with dyslexia and ADHD whose parent has fought and still fighting for inept EHCP via SENA, SENDIAS, CAMHS, school all not doing their job, refusing to change school timetables, support and sanction after sanction when not meeting need, strict parents, scouts, explores, activities and still fighting for 15yr old child to get medication to go off rails without the opportunity of medication until they get arrested for trying to commit suicide with a knife and now how criminal record. | I run a company on my own and am a single parent. I make personalised ceramics and have some really famous clients, but the last year has been particularly terrible. With all my celebrity endorsements you'd think I was doing really well, but I'm not. I've got no money coming in, I'm stressed and anxious and feel like such a failure. I don't know how I will pay my bills and am getting hugely affected by my horrific neighbours and the noise they make. They have young kids who run around on the floor above our heads until sometimes 11.30 and I can hear everything. Noise really affects me and makes me totally lose concentration. I am so stressed and angry and disappointed and my flat is so depressing. I find it hard to channel my creative energy when I feel like this and overwhelm takes over. I need more sales. I have no money and don't know what to do, I've looked for other jobs for the last year but not been successful with anything, probably because of my anxiety and social awkwardness. I feel low and a crap mother sometimes, my child's father provides nothing at all. | what about FASD? (foetal alcohol spectrum disorder) it's way more complex than ADHD. it accounts for a LOT of people in prison and most find themselves in trouble with the law at some point. FASD is a can of worms not yet recognised with governmental policies, and is very similar to ADHD as it affects executive functioning - only much more severely. people with a FASD have genuine learning difficulties - and brain damage to the pre frontal cortex meaning these people are unable to learn because their brains are damaged for alcohol in utero. I would urge these guys to contact Dr Raj Mukherjee from the Surrey based FASD clinic for signposting/ further information pertaining to your important work. (I have diagnosed ADHD. I adopted two children 15 years ago unaware of their FASD and sought out the diagnosis at this clinic) |

| I'm hugely impulsive. I bought a car as I was getting terribly badly affected by my horrible noisy neighbours to go down to see a friend, I needed to buy a car anyway and had been looking for ages but I bought one that was advertised as ok and it definitely wasn't. This seems to be that you are saying that those who go down the wrong route is because they don't have a strong mother. That is really offensive. | Hi, not sure if this is the right page for the questions for The Criminal Justice System , if it is, I want to ask whether anyone has done any research / economic analysis about the returns on investment when people who are diagnosed and treated properly for adhd as opposed to being left on SSRIs and with long term anxiety and depression/ risk of suicide/addiction/criminality ultimately this is the reason that gender reassignment was justified ( dont want to open a can of worms with that one - not intentional at all but just a principle ) I work on the NHS. I'm just about to start a job in Liaison and Diversion in the CJS . Im interested in getting in touch with any research / development once I'm settled. I have a lot of experience in research etc. so very keen to help. I have combined ADHD ..hope its ok to add this .. |

Stimulant medications are great at helping with focus and to some extent overwhelm and executive function but they are also great for making it really easy not to eat.
