Simon Pitts-Drake. ADHD UK Ambassador
Hey there, I’m Simon Pitts-Drake. Let me tell you a bit about myself and how I’ve come to see my recent ADHD diagnosis at 42 not just as a challenge, but as what I like to call my “superpower.” This realisation has fundamentally shifted how I view myself and my interactions with the world, in both my professional & personal life.
My journey’s been quite a ride, with over 15 years tucked under my belt in international sales, dabbling in entrepreneurship, and navigating the rollercoaster of building businesses in fiercely competitive markets. In 2019, I found my place at ComplyAdvantage, a company with a mission close to my heart: fighting financial crimes like money laundering and terrorist financing. Here, I’m all about driving our growth in the EMEA region, making sure our clients, who are some of the biggest names in finance and fintech, have the top-notch, AI-powered tools they need to eliminate financial crime & fraud.
Working with ADHD has been an eye-opener for me. It’s like having this unique lens that shows me creative, out-of-the-box solutions to problems others might not even see. This “superpower” has been a game-changer in how I approach my work, allowing me to think differently and bring innovative ideas to the table.
Now, as I step into my role as an ambassador for ADHD UK, I’m pumped to use my story and experiences to help others. I’m here to shout from the rooftops that ADHD isn’t just a list of challenges—it’s a list of potential strengths, too. I want to help bust the myths, cut through the stigma, and show that with the right understanding and support, people with ADHD can achieve incredible things.
