Ava Watkins. ADHD UK Ambassador
Hello, I’m Ava. At just 14 years old, I received a diagnosis that would redefine my life in unexpected ways: ADHD. Now, at 19, I’m excited to announce that I’ve taken on the role of ambassador for ADHD UK, a position that allows me to advocate for and represent individuals like myself.
The journey from diagnosis to acceptance wasn’t easy. Initially, the label of ADHD felt like a barrier, something that set me apart in ways I didn’t want. I spent years trying to outrun this aspect of my identity, rejecting the notion that I needed to be anything other than simply Ava. This defiance, though empowering in some respects, also led me into challenging situations—experiences no teenager should have to endure.
Through these trials, I’ve grown immensely. Over time, I’ve learned to see my ADHD not as a hindrance but as a unique part of who I am, one that fuels my passion and creativity. It’s with this newfound understanding that I’ve embraced the role of ambassador. My aim is to be the voice for many young people who feel unheard and misunderstood. I want to share our stories—the real, raw narratives of living with ADHD—to foster a greater understanding and change societal perceptions across the UK.
In this role, I am committed to advocating for better support systems and more inclusive policies that recognize the potential in every individual with ADHD. By sharing my journey and the diverse experiences of others, I hope to contribute to a more empathetic, informed, and supportive community.
Join me as we work to transform the conversation around ADHD, making it a source of strength rather than stigma. Together, we can make a difference that resonates not just in our immediate communities but across the nation.
