Huw Jones. ADHD UK Ambassador
My name is Huw Jones and I am a 24 year old with a wonderful fiancee living in Birmingham.
Since I was young I was clearly different, I found it hard to fit into the mould I was put into as a “young man” often bullied for my quirkiness and perceived silliness.
Coming out of school my confidence couldn’t have been lower, terrified of university I made a decison to not go, devoting my life to working in heritage and museums.
At the Birmingham back to backs I found my place and my passion. At 17 I was one of the youngest national trust staff members ever, I faced many challenges often doubted by my new peers about my ability.
In the years since I have slowly scaled the job ladder in heritage, it was three years ago I realised I had ADHD and am currently going through diagnosis, I experienced tough times in previous jobs my rapid working style considered impossible to maintain.
In 2025 I started my dream job, at age 24 I became one of the youngest Museum Managers in the country after a year long battle with mental health. I achieved my dream by doing one thing, I embraced who I am, my silliness, my bounciness and my passion something that would never be possible without my amazing fiancee Emily, she showed me who I am and now I am living my dream.
As an ambassador I want to help inspire people to get the same chance I did, ADHD has brought me challenges but it’s part of me and by knowing that I can achieve anything.
