Shay Salvator. ADHD UK Ambassador
Hi, I’m Shay and I’m delighted to have come on board as an Ambassador to share my journey but also be apart of a world where I am understood. Seeing so many different walks of life and hearing stories has really assured me I’m not alone. Being diagnosed at 32 was so scary but it has helped me understand that there was a reason I wasn’t living as my true self. Having only being diagnosed for less than 2 years I am still learning and growing but my aim like any ambassador is to raise awareness, end stigma and inspire others.
As an LGBT female who has struggled with the worlds outlook on me along with having mental health issues for over 2 decades has been a challenge in itself. Fighting for rights in the late 2000’s to now fighting for acceptance by simply having a neurodivergent mind.
Now in my first year of sobriety I enjoy actively learning from others and reading life stories that are similar time mine. This has become a safe haven for me after a tumultuous life, I’m reassured that my story is not done…….there’s a few chapters left.
For anyone reading this, I survived through fear. Fear is there to be fought. If you let it in it will torment you. If you fight it, it dies and you will be at peace.
