Jade Fulbrook. ADHD UK Ambassador

My name is Jade, I’m 39 and I live in beautiful West Dorset.

From a very young age I knew I was ‘different’. During my school years I was the girl that ‘could be heard from all four corners of the room’. I found it difficult to focus, and was always getting into trouble for talking too much, distracting others and ‘being the class joker’.

Academically I was very bright but by the end of secondary school I was barely attending. Miraculously I still managed to leave school with good GCSEs and went on to obtain A Levels & further qualifications. But, I didn’t half struggle.
Back then, ADHD in girls was unheard of. It was never picked up and I therefore received no support.

After some CBT therapy in my thirties it was suggested that I may have ADHD. After my official diagnosis, everything made sense. I have always felt that I am ‘too much’ and couldn’t understand why everything seemed to come so easily to others. It felt like such a relief to know that I am not ‘broken’ and I have slowly learnt to fully embrace and accept who I am.

Advocating for ADHD in women is crucial. Many women with ADHD are misdiagnosed with anxiety, depression, or other mood disorders, leading to delayed or inadequate treatment.

As a personal trainer, fitness is a huge passion of mine. Exercise helps to manage my ADHD symptoms, dopamine levels, and helps to give me structure and focus.

I am honoured to have been chosen to be an Ambassador for ADHD UK. I am excited to help raise awareness around ADHD in women & demonstate and share knowledge on how fitness and exercise can be an amazing tool to help manage the stresses of living with ADHD.
