Parul Singh. ADHD UK Ambassador
Hi, I’m Parul. For 25 years, I thought I was just difficult, undisciplined, selfish and full of anger. Then, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I was so excited that I finally had the answers I had desperately needed my whole life!
But no one tells you how hard navigating life post-diagnosis is, both in your personal and professional life. I was provided a few very basic resources which didn’t help much; and I really struggled in the first couple of months.
It was only because of organisations like ADHD UK that create invaluable resources such as guidance on reasonable adjustments, right to choose and access to work that I was able to navigate my post-diagnosis journey easier.
That’s why I became an ADHD UK Ambassador: I want to support the charity’s critical work for people like me.
I also believe that sharing my experiences as a first-generation immigrant and a disabled woman of colour is crucial for giving representation to those who don’t often feel represented or seen.
Outside of my work as an ADHD UK Ambassador, I’m the founder of Parallel Minds, a consultancy that helps tech organisations build truly neuroinclusive cultures, not just more aware, but more accessible, equitable and joyful.
I also founded the Neurodivergent Techies Discord community, which has grown into a vibrant, safe space for ND folks working in and around tech.
I’m a scouser living in Manchester, and my hobbies include cooking recipes from across the globe, crocheting and playing piano!
