An NHS task force has called for immediate support — such as flexible work, quiet spaces, or extra school time — for people with possible ADHD symptoms, even before a formal diagnosis, citing “unacceptably long” waiting times of up to eight years. The interim report recommends needs-based help across schools, workplaces, and public services to prevent long-term issues like unemployment and mental illness. It also highlights the burden of over-reliance on unregulated private clinics, the lack of consistent NHS access, and the urgent need for reforms in education and health systems to better serve people with ADHD.
