Chris Benson. ADHD UK Ambassador

My name is Chris Benson, and I am a father of three with over twenty-five years’ experience in education, both in the UK and internationally. My journey with ADHD has shaped my life in profound ways. For decades I lived with undiagnosed ADHD, working hard to make sense of the struggles and intensity that seemed to follow me through school, relationships, and work. It wasn’t until I was 48 that I finally received the diagnosis that gave clarity to those experiences.

I know what it feels like to navigate education from every angle — as a pupil, a student, a teacher, and now a leader. Living with ADHD through each of those stages has given me a unique perspective: the challenges of being misunderstood, the resilience it builds, and the creativity and energy it brings. That insight drives me to challenge misconceptions about ADHD and to show that high expectations and inclusion can go hand in hand.

My role as an ambassador for ADHD UK is part of my commitment to raising awareness and shifting the conversation — from deficit to difference, from stigma to strength. I believe that when schools, workplaces, and communities truly value neurodiversity, they don’t just support individuals with ADHD; they create cultures where everyone can thrive.
