Dhiren Doshi-Smith. ADHD UK Ambassador

Hi, I’m Dhiren. I’m a therapeutic counsellor, speaker, and now a proud ADHD UK Ambassador. My work centres on helping people, especially those who are queer, POC, and neurodivergent, untangle the weight of expectation and step into authenticity.

Like many, I spent years trying to “fit” into systems that were not designed for minds like mine. Before my ADHD diagnosis, I internalised every struggle as a personal failure, thinking I was disorganised, unreliable, or simply not good enough. The truth was that I was navigating life with a brain wired differently, and nobody had given me the language or understanding to see it.

Getting diagnosed did not just explain my challenges, it reframed my strengths. My creativity, empathy, and ability to see the world differently are not accidents, they are part of my neurodivergence. Once I stopped apologising for being “too much,” I realised I had a voice and perspective that could actually change things.

As an Ambassador for ADHD UK, I want to challenge stereotypes, amplify diverse voices, and show that ADHD is not a character flaw, it is a different way of being in the world. And for me, that means highlighting the intersections: how, in many POC communities, queerness and neurodiversity are still silenced or overlooked. By bringing these conversations to the forefront, I hope to create space for people to see themselves reflected, accepted, and celebrated in all their complexity.
