Gemma Holden. ADHD UK Ambassador

Hi, I’m Gemma. I’m a therapist, coach, MSc Psychology student, mum of four, and the creator of The Diary of a Neurodivergent Mum® a space where I share the real, messy, funny and honest side of life with a neurodivergent brain.

ADHD has been part of my story for as long as I can remember.

I’ve been the child who couldn’t sit still, the one who had a million ideas but struggled to fit into systems that weren’t built for a brain like mine.

I’ve worked in education, supporting young people who were misunderstood, labelled or struggling to be heard.

And now I’m the parent, navigating the beautiful chaos of raising children while also understanding how different brains experience the world.

Those three perspectives the child, the professional and the parent shape everything I do.

Alongside my work supporting women in business, I founded The Growth Mind Project® CIC, which supports parents and carers of children with additional needs so families feel understood, supported and empowered rather than judged or alone.

Because when the adults around the child feel supported, everything changes.

Becoming an ambassador for ADHD UK means a huge amount to me.

ADHD UK is working to change what it means to have ADHD in the UK raising awareness, challenging stigma and pushing for better understanding and support.

Too many children grow up believing they are either too much or not enough.

Too many adults grow up thinking there is something wrong with them.

There is not!

My mission is to help more people understand ADHD, deal with the challenges and celebrate their neurodivergence.

To create spaces where people feel safe to be exactly who they are.

Because the world doesn’t need fewer neurodivergent minds.

It needs to understand them better.
