Gina Skourti. ADHD UK Ambassador

Hi, I’m Gina. I am a mental health professional with over 15 years’ experience working with people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence, and a strong commitment to improving how services understand and support ADHD across the lifespan.

My interest in ADHD developed through my therapeutic work with newly diagnosed neurodivergent adults and young people and became deeply personal following my own diagnosis at the age of 40 — a point at which I began to make sense of experiences that had previously gone unrecognised. Alongside this, I am the parent of a child with SEND, which further shapes both my professional insight and advocacy.

I have a strong sensitivity to injustice, which I now understand as part of my neurodivergent profile. While this can feel intense at times, it is also a core driver of my work — motivating me to challenge inequities, question systems, and advocate for more compassionate, inclusive approaches. I actively channel this into my professional practice, using it to inform meaningful change rather than simply reacting to it.

Drawing on my lived experience of navigating the uncertainty of long-term illness, I am particularly passionate about the intersection of neurodivergence and chronic illness, and advocating for systems to better recognise and respond to the complexity of these overlapping experiences.

Through my work, I collaborate with public services, deliver training to professionals and caregivers, and support individuals through therapeutic work, psychoeducation and coaching. As an ADHD ambassador, I am passionate about challenging deficit-based narratives and supporting people to reframe their experiences with greater understanding, compassion and agency.
