Abby Fisher. ADHD UK Ambassador

I have been affected by the many traits of ADHD for as long as I can remember. I have always felt different and like there was something “wrong” with me.

My school work, social life, work life and home life have all suffered.

Since diagnosis with ADHD Combined type, I have tried my best to encourage a bigger awareness in how ADHD affects not only me, but also how it presents differently in people of different genders (which has, I believe, led to a drastic under-diagnosing of girls).

I also speak outwardly of my experiences with ADHD and encourage those around me who are either curious about the condition, or who they themselves are looking at getting diagnosis or having been diagnosed and feeling lost or confused by their lives going forward, to ask questions and talk about their experience. I find this has led to many people gaining more awareness of how ADHD impacts people on all aspects of life.

My aim as an ADHD Ambassador is to raise awareness and help future diagnosees feel less alone, confused, and help them cope when their symptoms are impacting them severely.
