BBC (2026)
Actor Simon Pegg, 56, has revealed on the podcast I’m ADHD! No You’re Not that he has been diagnosed with ADHD, saying it “confirmed a lot of stuff” he had long dismissed as “character fault.” He had experienced depression since 18 and struggled with drinking, and he now wonders whether he had been treating the symptoms rather than the cause, with a minor car accident and past speeding convictions finally prompting him to seek an assessment. The article notes that an estimated 2.5 million people in England have ADHD, that adult diagnoses rose nearly 20-fold between 2000 and 2018, and that NHS waiting lists are at record levels, yet research suggests the condition remains underdiagnosed, with only about 1.2% of adults in England diagnosed against an estimated prevalence of 3 to 5%.
