What does "at the current pace" mean?

We divide the number of people waiting by the number of assessments the service did in the last year. It shows how long someone joining the list today could wait if nothing changes. It is an estimate, not a promise: services can speed up, and some people are seen sooner because of urgency. The NHS standard for non-urgent care is 18 weeks.

What they told us

Hywel Dda University Health Board told us via FOI (FOI/20375/26, dated 27/05/2026) that 5,529 adults were waiting for an ADHD assessment as at 30 April 2026, and that only FIFTEEN adult ADHD assessments were undertaken in the whole of 2025/26 - the Board stated this reflects "service demand and limited capacity within the clinical team as the focus has been on titration". EFFECTIVE WAIT: at the 2025/26 assessment rate (15 per year), the 5,529-strong waiting list represents an effective wait of roughly 369 years (5,529 / 15). Pathway details were provided by reference to the Board's public adult ADHD webpage (s.21 FoIA).
